Pastor Jerry Keams

DILKON, Ariz. — Funeral services for Pastor Jerry Keams, 61, were held Dec. 29 at the Castle Butte New Life Fellowship Church in Dilkon, Arizona. Interment followed at the Dilkon community cemetery.

Pastor Keams was born Sept. 23, 1956, in Winslow, Arizona, to his father, the late Jack Keams, and his mother, Mae Jensen Keams. He passed away Dec. 25, 2017, at the Little Colorado Medical Center in Winslow, following a sudden illness.

As a child, Jerry enjoyed living the ranch life, especially working with and riding horses.

As a student at Holbrook High School, Jerry was involved with its cross-country and long-distance running teams. During his time on the team, Holbrook won the state championship for 1974-75. He loved sports and was an excellent basketball player.

In 1976, Jerry met the love of his life, Phyllis née Dan, in Mississippi. They had four children: Daryl, Adrian, Danielle and Jerilyn.

In 1985, the family moved back to Arizona and Jerry began working as a mill hand at the sawmill in Springerville, Arizona. For many, many years, Jerry was involved with the church band “The Chosen Generation” playing the guitar.

In 2000, Jerry began another chapter in his life when he began serving as the pastor of the Holbrook Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed serving the Lord, as it was the main focus in his life.

Pastor Keams is survived by his wife, Phyllis Keams; children, Daryl, Adrian, Danielle and Jerilyn; mother, Mae Keams; siblings, Richard (Virginia) Keams, Lena (Venton) Nelson and Marlinda Keams; and three grandchildren.

Phillip H. Dale

ST. MICHAELS, Ariz. — Funeral services for Phillip H. Dale, 82, of Kinlichee, Arizona, will be held Friday, Jan. 5, at the St. Michaels Church in St. Michaels, Arizona, with Silver Creek Mortuary officiating. Burial will follow in Kinlichee.

Phillip was born July 6, 1935, in Wide Ruins, Arizona, into the Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Wood People Clan), born for Kinyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan). He died Dec. 29, 2017, in Pinetop-Lakeside, Arizona.

Phillip was employed and retired from Union Pacific Railroad.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Dale; daughter, Barbara Ann Yellowhorse; and stepsons, Gary C. Benally Sr., Jerrold Benally, Jerrison Benally, Kenneth Lee, Jefferson Lee and Steven Dale Jr.

A reception will take place at the Kinlichee Chapter House following services.

Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
