Snowflake pounds 15 hits in win over Scouts
FORT DEFIANCE
Snowflake’s potent bats powered the Lobos to a shortened five inning 14-0 shutout win over the Window Rock Scouts in a Division III freedom baseball game in Fort Defiance.
Snowflake hammered 15 hits, including 11 safeties off Window Rock junior starting pitcher Joshua Henry. The hard-throwing Henry allowed 13 runs and struck out four Snowflake batters.
“We hit the ball well,” said Snowflake head coach Josh Craner. “We have been putting the ball in play. We’ve been working on our hitting. We have kids who can hit the ball. Our bats came alive today.”
Warren Scott pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief. Snowflake touched Scott for one run on four hits. Scott fanned one batter.
“Joshua (Henry) did a good job on the mound,” said Window Rock head coach Greg Barker. “He throws hard. Snowflake is a solid hitting team. He kept Snowflake honest. Snowflake’s pitching kept us off balance.”
