IIFR set for this weekend

Some of the areas top cowboys and cowgirls will come together for this weekend’s 11th annual International Indian Finals Rodeo at McGee Park in Farmington.
The three-day event starts today with a welcoming banquet taking place at 7 p.m. for all the contestants, their families and rodeo fans alike with $20 admission being taken at the door.
The finals will consist of three rounds with the first performance taking place at 1 p.m. on Friday, followed by an evening performance at 7 p.m. The final performance is scheduled for Saturday night at 7 p.m. Tickets for the rodeo can be purchased at the door for $15 at each rodeo performance.
At the conclusion of each nightly performance there will be country western dance taking place with $10 admission. Advance tickets can be purchased online at www.holdmyticket.com.
Fourteen world champions will be crowned at the conclusion of Saturday night’s performance with the top hands from the AIRCA, CNRA, Triple B and Fort Apache cowboys competing in this event.
In addition the IIFR will be crowning the 2015-16 Miss IIFR Rodeo Queen on Saturday night.
The major events consist of bareback, saddle bronc, bull riding, tie-down, steer wrestling, ladies breakaway, ladies barrels and team roping. In addition, world champions will be crowned in the No. 10 team roping, Jr. bulls, Jr. barrels and Sr. breakaway roping.
