Against some of Arizona’s top milers regardless of division, St. Michael junior Ali Upshaw came pretty close to winning the 1,600-meter run during last Saturday’s AIA Meet of Champions.

Every stride that Kyle Sumatzkuku took on Saturday in the 26.2-mile Shiprock Marathon was taken in prayer.

After winning the two races she was favored to win, lightning struck a third time for running sensation Ali Upshaw.

Even with the time split entering the Arizona Division III state track meet, Page coach Reggie Edwards didn’t expect this.
