Weather shifted quickly through parts of Arizona, Utah and New Mexico on Thursday and Friday, bringing rain, dark skies, low clouds and a funnel cloud to several communities.
On Thursday, Sept. 17, traffic moved east on Interstate 40 near Exit 354 approaching Lupton, Arizona, beneath a darkening sky. Farther north, rain dampened the road toward Goulding’s near Monument Valley, Utah.

Near Shiprock, rain fell along the highway leading into the community while thick clouds covered the horizon. Near Burnham, New Mexico, low clouds wrapped around a large rock formation and obscured much of its upper slopes.
The weather continued Friday, Sept. 18, near Tse Bonito, New Mexico, where a funnel cloud extended beneath a dark cloud base.
