Solar shade parking canopies are being installed at the Tuba City shopping center, where they will generate electricity for Bashas’ Diné Market while covering 96 parking spaces.
The project is being developed by Navajo Nation Shopping Centers Inc. in partnership with Oculus Studio, which is serving as the design team.
Nicholas Taylor, the CEO of Navajo Nation Shopping Centers Inc., said the project is intended to support businesses at the site while adding long-term energy benefits.
“We are committed to investing in and implementing a sustainable energy infrastructure that enhances our property and supports the businesses that operate within it,” Taylor said. “The new parking structure will help reduce operating costs in the long term while improving the overall experience for our tenants and their customers.”
