Nike’s N7 program took basketball gear and hundreds of pairs of shoes directly to Navajo Nation and Gila River communities last weekend, timed to the Women’s NCAA Final Four in Phoenix, in what the company described as part of a longer-term investment in Native youth.
The outreach was organized through a partnership between Nike N7 and the Hoop Bus, a mobile basketball program. Rather than asking community members to come to an event in the city, Nike went to them. The company gave away basketball shoes and shirts to Native youth at no cost and stated it did not sell any products during the effort.
Tuba City’s girls basketball team, the 2026 Arizona state champions, were part of the weekend’s celebrations. The Hoop Bus extended its tour to Tuba City on Tuesday to mark the team’s title. Next year, the program will become the first high school team to formally represent the Nike brand.
