Tape marks claimed parking spots Wednesday, Sept. 2, along the Navajo Nation Fair parade route on State Route 264 in Window Rock. People traditionally mark roadside spaces ahead of the parade as preparations continue for the 78th Annual Navajo Nation Fair.

Preparations for the 78th Annual Navajo Nation Fair were already taking shape Wednesday, Sept. 2, in Window Rock, nearly a week before the fair begins Sept. 8.
Frazier Shows carnival rides, including the Century Wheel and Ring of Fire, stood on the fairgrounds beneath storm clouds as crews continued setting up the midway. Rainwater left by recent storms reflected the rides and evening sky.
Along State Route 264, tape, stakes and cinder blocks marked roadside spaces claimed for parking along the Navajo Nation Fair parade route. A tent had also been set up beside the route as people began securing spots days before the fair and its annual parade.
