Miller Nash hires former Navajo Attorney General Ethel Branch

Former Navajo Nation Attorney General Ethel Branch has joined Miller Nash LLP, where she advises tribal governments and enterprises from the firm’s Seattle office.
Miller Nash announced Branch’s hiring July 28. Her practice includes government operations, economic development, gaming, taxation, finance, regulatory compliance, financing transactions and major disputes.
“Throughout my career, I’ve worked to advance tribal sovereignty and self-determination, and I’m excited to continue that work alongside such a talented team,” Branch said. “I look forward to helping our clients achieve their goals in Indian Country and beyond.”
Branch served as the Navajo Nation’s 11th attorney general from 2015 to 2019 and returned as the 13th attorney general in 2023. The Navajo Nation Council voted 13-6 to remove her Dec. 16, 2024. The legislation did not state a reason for the removal.
During her second term, Branch worked on the Northeastern Arizona Indian Water Rights Settlement Agreement and the Rio San José Stream System Water Rights Settlement Agreement.
