Ganado is becoming a concern for the Navajo Department of Health, according to the situation report. Chinle continues to see an increase in its rates. There are three different communities within Chinle that are having a spike, but which communities wasn’t provided.

Nez stated in his veto memo that with the appropriation of $4 million from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, they negotiated for police officer pay and extra duty pay to support front-line personnel.

There is also $1 million allocated for personal protection equipment and supplies to sanitize offices and equipment. 

The bill would allow for family members to bury their loved ones in family burial plots during the declared state of emergency. Land users who have not given their consent for the use of land for family burial plots would be afforded just compensation and due process.

In March the Navajo Area Indian Health Service gave a coronavirus surge projection stating the Navajo Nation would hit its peak in mid-May.
