The Navajo Department of Health issued another Public Health Emergency Order to implement another 57-hour weekend curfew beginning on Friday at 8 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m. for the entire Navajo Nation.

Today U.S. District Just Amit Mehta gave his ruling prohibiting the U.S. Treasury Department from distributing funds from the $8 billion coronavirus relief package earmarked for Native Americans to Alaska Native Corporations.

“We can still save lives,” said Lujan Grisham. “This notion that once the virus is out that you just have to let it run its course, no. We have to control and manage this invisible enemy.”

“We have partners like you all who are friends to Navajo,” said Nez to the HEAL team “that have a heart for the Navajo people and we appreciate that. It’s the slowness of the federal government right now, but people like you, and the doctors and nurses who have stepped up, (have) shown that with the limited resources we have, we can help one another out.”
