286 people on rez living with HIV

Figures released this month by the Navajo Nation Department of Health indicate there are 286 people living with HIV on the Navajo Reservation. That includes 30 newly diagnosed cases.

Of the 286 cases, 73 percent are men and 23 percent are women. The remaining two percent are transgender.

The report states that men on men contact “remains a particularly high risk for acquiring HIV on the Navajo Reservation.”
