An unidentified man was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident on New Mexico Highway 371 early Tuesday morning, according to Farmington Police.

At approximately 6:01 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to a traffic crash involving a pedestrian. The crash occurred on Bisti Highway near Ojo Court, according to a press release.

Officers investigating the crash learned that a 53-year-old man from Kirtland, New Mexico was driving a Ford Ranger south on Bisti Highway when he struck a male pedestrian crossing the road. Medics arrived and attempted life-saving measures, but the man died at the scene.

Police are working to identify the pedestrian as he did not have identification on him. Officers have not yet identified the driver either. The crash is still under investigation, but officers do not believe speed or impairment were contributing factors.
