A mandatory training for the Navajo Nation Judicial Branch caused the closure of the Window Rock Probation and Parole Offices today.

A printed sign on the exterior and interior entrances of the court informed the public of the closure and that business would resume at 8 a.m. on Monday.

Erica Spencer-Vandever, 30, of Lupton, said she drove from her college Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute in Albuquerque for a scheduled divorce hearing at the Family Court of the Navajo Nation Judicial District of Window Rock.

She said it shakes her faith in the court’s ability to handle her case.

“It doesn’t build a lot of confidence that I will receive a fair hearing or even a fair judgement,” she said.

The Window Rock Family Court clerk did not answer calls related to this story, and the phone did not go to voice mail.
