Sage Memorial dialysis center gets $3 million state grant

GANADO

A five-station dialysis center at Sage Memorial Hospital is scheduled to open in January after the hospital received a $3 million state grant to finish space left incomplete when construction money was redirected to two traffic signals.

The $177 million hospital, which opened to patients in December 2024, was designed with a dialysis center. Sage Memorial officials said an Arizona Department of Transportation traffic impact study required two signalized intersections, including one at the hospital entrance and another at State Route 264 and U.S. 191.

Sage Memorial redirected about $7 million toward the intersections to avoid risking a delay in the hospital’s opening, leaving the dialysis unit and some inpatient space unfinished.

“We were very discouraged because we could have used that funding to complete the dialysis in our inpatient side,” CEO Melinda White said.
