ST. MICHAELS, Ariz. — Funeral services for Mary Louise Watkins Parkhurst, 82, of Phoenix, will be held Friday, April 3, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in St. Michaels, Ariz., with Wayne Parkhurst officiating.

Mary Lou was born in 1932 in Chandler, Ariz. She passed away March 16, 2015, in Phoenix.

Immediately after raising her children, Mary Lou enrolled in nursing school and earned a R.N. During her 70s, she went back to college and received a degree in psychology.

Mary Lou’s life revolved around raising her family. She often repeated President David O. McKay’s comment that no other success could compensate for failure in the home. Although she worked odd jobs, she tried to be home when the children came home from school.

Mary Lou was a fiercely competitive card player. Although she was usually a gentle person, she took no prisoners when she played “Hand and Foot”.

Mary Lou is survived by her sons, Hurley Olen Parkhurst and Wayne Kimball Parkhurst (Mildred); and daughters, Terri Bohn (Ralph), DeAnna Perry (Ernest), Carmen Vivlamore (Jeff), and Lucia Rutherford (David).

Mary Lou is preceded in death by her husband, Hurley Harvey Parkhurst.

SHIPROCK – Funeral services for Jonah Lewis Sr., 77, of Shiprock, will be held Friday, April 3, at 10 a.m. at 1st Wash Assembly of God Church in Shiprock, with Vernon Hollett officiating. Burial will follow at the Shiprock community cemetery.

Jonah was born Jan. 1, 1938, in Shiprock. He passed away March 27, 2015, in Farmington.

Jonah is survived by his sons, Perry Lewis and Jonah Lewis Jr.; daughter, Christina M. Lewis; and 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Jonah is preceded in death by his parents, Navajo George and Dine Bitsie Yazzie; sisters, Mary Russell, Rose Benjamin, and Lorraine Nez; and brothers, Tom George, John Lewis, and Nelson Lewis.

Jonah is in the care of Desert View Funeral Home.

BREAD SPRINGS, N.M. — Funeral services for Eli Tim Hannah, 32, will be held Friday, April 3, at 10 a.m. at the Valley View Church of God in Bread Springs, N.M. Burial will follow at the Rehoboth cemetery in Rehoboth, N.M.

Eli was born April 19, 1982, in Gallup, into the Tódich’ii’nii (Bitter Water Clan), born for Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Wood People). He died March 27, 2015, in Bluewater, N.M.

Eli is a 2000 graduate of Ramah High School. He enjoyed playing basketball and spending time with family and friends.

Eli is survived by his mother, Jeannie Raphaelito; father, Tim Hannah; stepmother, Darlene Hannah; sister, Areka J. Hannah; and brothers, Conway T. Hannah and Matthew T. Hannah.

Eli is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jackson and Pauline C. Raphaelito; and brother, Iven H. John.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Gonzales Sr., Johnny Gonzales Jr., LeeVon Martinez, Virgil Begay, Curtis Largo, Geoffery Miller, and Colin Henio.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy (Wilson) Edsitty

GALLUP — Funeral services for Dorothy (Wilson) Edsitty, 62, were held March 27 at Rollie Mortuary in Gallup. Interment followed at the Gallup City Cemetery.

Dorothy was born Aug. 5, 1952, in Bluewater, N.M., into the Kiyaa’aanii (Towering House Clan), born for Tódich’ii’nii (Bitter Water Clan). Her nali is T‡baah‡ (Water’s Edge); chei is Naakai dine’é (Mexican). She died March 23, 2015, in Gallup.

Dorothy enjoyed doing beadwork, sewing, crocheting, cooking, playing bingo, and socializing with people.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Begay of Red Rock, N.M., Dolores Sherman of Twin Lakes, N.M., and Aveda Adeva; and son, Drew Edsitty of Red Rock.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her father, Tex Wilson; mother, Marie Adakai Wilson; brothers, Tommy Lee Sr., Kee Wilson, James Wilson, Johnny Lee, Kenneth Lee, and Stanley Wilson; and sisters, Nora Wilson and Mary Wilson.

Pallbearers were Robby Yazza, Micheal Chee, Tyler Brown, Darren Natoni, Ted Billy, and Benson Begay.

Rollie Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
