Cody Nelson Francisco

ST. MICHAELS, Ariz. — Funeral services for Cody Nelson Francisco, 12, will be held Saturday, May 2, at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located on Highway 264, in St. Michaels, Ariz., with Bishop Martinez officiating. Burial will take place at the family plot in Fort Defiance, followed by a reception.

Cody was born March 21, 2003, in Salt Lake City, Utah, into the Tábaahá (Water’s Edge Clan), born for Naakai dine’é (Mexican Clan). He passed away April 26, 2015, in Sandy, Utah.

Cody was in the 6th grade at Heritage Academy in Salt Lake City. He was actively involved in Boy Scouts, wrestling, and loved Pokemon, drawing, Five Nights of Freddie, and Minecraft.

Cody is survived by his mothers, Terri Francisco and Yolanda Francisco-Nez; fathers, Luis Martinez and Cal Nez; grandmother, Vivian Yazza; siblings, Corey (girlfriend Ashley), Jordan, Dylan, Kyle, Courtney (husband Palmer), Chelsey (husband David), and Colby; uncles/aunts, Kevin Hailstorm, Tami Francisco, Dina Martin, and Chuck Martin; cousins, Haleigh, Michael, Michaela, and Cheyenne; nephews, Adam, Adan, and Na’taani; and nieces, Zonbaahi and Yanabaah.

Flowers can be sent to Silver Creek Mortuary, 21 Alma Drive, Tse Bonito, NM 87301 (505-371-3690) before May 2.

Louise Mitchell

GALLUP — Funeral services for Louise Mitchell, 85, were held April 28 at Rollie Mortuary in Gallup. Interment followed at the Gallup City Cemetery.

Louise was born Aug. 16, 1929, in Tsayatoh, N.M., into the Kinyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan), born for Haltsooi (Meadow People Clan). She died April 24, 2015, in Blackhat, N.M.

Louise is survived by her husband, Timmie Mitchell of Blackhat; daughter, Barbara Austin of Blackhat; and sisters, Grace Spencer and Rose Spencer, both of Tsayatoh.

Louise is preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Naomi Hoskie.

Pallbearers were Marcus Tso, Cody Austin, Kyle Austin, Kinslen Smith, Melvin Spencer, and Leslie Spencer.

Rollie Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Christopher J. Joe

SHIPROCK – Funeral services for Christopher J. Joe, 51, of Pinehill, N.M., will be held Saturday, May 2, at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Shiprock. Burial will follow at the Shiprock community cemetery.

Christopher was born Sept. 8, 1963, in Shiprock. He passed away April 25, 2015, in Ramah, N.M.

Christopher is in the care of Desert View Funeral Home in Shiprock.

Sherie Schultz

WINSLOW, Ariz. – Funeral services for Sherie Schultz, 44, were held April 23 at Greer’s Mortuary Chapel in Winslow, Ariz., with Pastor Nelson Betoney officiating. Interment followed at Desert View Cemetery in Winslow.

Sherie was born into the Kinlichii’nii (Red House Clan), born for Anglo.

Sherie attended Alameda University and received her bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s in criminal justice. At the time of her death she was employed by the Navajo Nation Gaming Regulatory office as the enforcement manager. Previously employed with the Program of Self Reliance (formerly TANF), Sherie wrote a grant that helped gain funding and build the foundation for the Meth and Suicide Prevention Initiative. She also worked for the state of Arizona under the Department of Economic Security to help the unemployed.

Sherie is survived by her children, Reginald Silversmith, Raleigh Silversmith, and Jessica Schultz; and her mother, Barbara Chee.

Sherie is preceded in death by her husband, Emery Schultz; and grandfather, Henry K. Chee.

Donations in Sherie’s honor should be given to the MS Foundation or Cancer Treatment Centers of America.
