Ralph Nelson Jr.

GALLUP – Funeral services for Ralph Nelson Jr., 83, were held Feb. 24 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Gallup. Interment followed at the veteran’s cemetery in Fort Defiance.

Ralph was born Nov. 9, 1932, in Houck, Ariz., into the Honágháahnii (One-walks-around Clan), born for Kiyaa’aanii (Towering House Clan). His chei is Dibélzhini (Black Sheep). He died Feb. 18, 2016, in Albuquerque.

Ralph served in the Army for three years and was employed as a foreman at Silica Sand Plant for 40 years. He was also a Navajo politician for over 40 years.

Ralph is survived by his children, Ricky Nelson, Brenda Jeffries, Ron Nelson, Ralph Nelson III, and Christopher Nelson; brother, Roger Nelson; sisters, Mary Morgan, Elizabeth Brown, and Marie Silversmith; and 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ricky Nelson, Brenda Jeffries, Ron Nelson, Ralph Nelson III, Christopher Nelson, and Shawn Nelson.

Rollie Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Elvis Delgarito

CASAMERO LAKE, N.M. – Funeral services for Elvis Delgarito, 51, were held Feb. 24 in Casamero Lake, N.M. Interment followed at the family plot in Casamero Lake.

Elvis was born Dec. 16, 1964, in Crownpoint, into the Áshiihi (Salt People Clan), born for Tó baazhni’ázhi (Two Who Came to Water Clan). He died Feb. 18, 2016, in Albuquerque.

Elvis attended Bernalillo and Thoreau Middle School. He enjoyed joking, laughing, and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter. His hobbies included going to church and tending to his livestock.

Elvis is survived by his wife, Linda Delgarito; sons, Alvin Delgarito and Tillman Delgarito; and daughter, Vallaura Delgarito.

Elvis is preceded in death by his father, Clark Delgarito; mother, Benita Delgarito; daughter, Raenita Delgarito; and sisters, Emma Delgarito and Louise D. Hudson.

Pallbearers were Jeffrey Delgarito, Samuel Delgarito, Shane Smith, Stevie Smith, Shawn Delgarito, and Ernest Manuelito.

Rollie Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Floyd Becenti

GALLUP – Funeral services for Floyd Becenti, 52, were held Feb. 22 at Rollie Mortuary in Gallup. Interment followed at the Sunset Memorial Park in Gallup.

Floyd was born March 7, 1962, in Phoenix, into the Táchii’nii (Red Running Into the Water People Clan), born for Tó’aheedliinii (Water Flow Together Clan). His nali is Bit’ahnii (Folded Arms); chei is Haltsooi (Meadow People). He died Feb. 16, 2016, in Gallup.

Floyd graduated from Tohatchi High School and attended college in Silver City for one year. He also served in the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton for one year.

Floyd is survived by his daughters, Sonia Becenti and Samantha Clark; son, Brian Becenti; father, Raymond Becenti; brother, Lloyd Becenti; and sisters, Verna Tahe, Elaine Becenti, Beverly Becenti, Raylene Becenti, and Krystal Becenti.

Pallbearers were relatives.

Rollie Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Eddie Stewart

NASCHITTI, N.M. – Funeral services for Eddie Stewart, 45, of Naschitti, N.M., were held Feb. 20 at the Christian Reform Church in Naschitti, with Jerome Sandoval officiating. Interment followed in Naschitti.

Eddie was born March 25, 1970, in Gallup, into the Nóóda’i dine’é (Ute Clan), born for Kinyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan). He died Feb. 15, 2016, in Mesa, Ariz.

Eddie attended Highland High School and was employed as a car detail technician. He enjoyed music and peyote drumming.

Eddie is survived by his daughters, Monique Stewart and Megan Stewart; parents, Freddie Stewart and Mari Sam; brother, Melvin Stewart; sisters, Christine Stewart, Thelma Stewart and Frannie Stewart; and grandmother, Marie Stewart.

Eddie is preceded in death by Michelle Dickinson and grandparents, Dora Hannett, Lee Stewart, and Governor Stewart.

Tse Bonito Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
