Eugene Henderson

ALBUQUERQUE — Our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Eugene Henderson, 83, passed away Jan. 4, 2023, at Genesis Nursing Home in Albuquerque.

Eugene was born in Two Wells, New Mexico, to Happy Henderson and Marie Yazzie Henderson of Chéch’iltah, New Mexico, into the Kinyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan), born for Tábąąhá (Water’s Edge Clan).

Eugene graduated from Fort Wingate High School and attended college in Riverside, California, and Chicago. He was a trackman for 26 years, working for BNSF Railroad. He was also a draftsman engineer for the City of Flagstaff, the Navajo tribe, and Gallup Blueprint.

Eugene had a great sense of humor and went out of his way for others. He was a true advocate for education.

Eugene is survived by his sons, Douglas, Brian, and Alvin Henderson; daughters, Darlene, Jacqueline, Sylvia, and Brenda Henderson, and Delores Lee; sister, Angela Grey; and 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and numerous family and friends.

Eugene is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Beverly Gorman; great-grandson, Isiah Crum; and siblings, Jerry, Gilbert, and Yazhi Henderson, Dorothy Montano, Gertrude Rondon, Ella Mae Arthur, Nellie Pinto, and Katie Henderson.

At Eugene’s request, there will be no memorial services. Following cremation, a small service for immediate family members will only be available.

In place of monetary or flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Community Pantry, P.O. Box 520, Gallup, NM 87305, in the care of E. Henderson.

Rashaundal L. Comb

SHIPROCK — Funeral services for Rashaundal Lyle Comb, also known as Shaun, were held Jan. 14 at the Desert View Funeral Home Chapel in Shiprock. Interment followed at the Cortez cemetery in Cortez, Colorado.

Shaun was born May 29, 1983, in Fort Defiance, to Randall and Shirley Comb, into the Tó’aheedlíinii (Water Flow Together Clan), born for Dibéłzhíní (Black Sheep Clan). He passed away Jan. 7, 2023, in Gallup, at 39.

Shaun grew up in Round Rock, Arizona, and resided in Lupton, Arizona. He graduated from Many Farms High School and earned a construction technology certificate from Navajo Technical College. He was enrolled at the University of New Mexico, studying construction engineering.

Shaun received several achievements and recognition in Skills USA Crafts Training and harnessing naturally occurring winds to generate mechanical power into electricity. He worked as an independent contractor renovating homes and constructing storage sheds.

Shaun loved to build things with his hands. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as archery, gardening, hiking, and fishing.

Shaun was known for his big smile, laughter, charismatic kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. He was also an animal lover, and he owned one cat named Roscoe and three dogs named Bear, Mickey, and Barry.

Shaun is survived by his son, Reydale Comb; parents, Randall and Shirley Comb; siblings, Savanah Six, Radeanna Comb, Rayaundal Comb, Rasheena Comb, and Shevanah Comb; and paternal grandmother, Aspbah Comb.

Shaun is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lillie and Chee Claleson; paternal grandfather, Fred Comb; and uncles, Raymond Claleson and Larry Comb.

Pallbearers were Tero Lee, Terrill Lee, Ronnie Claleson, Vito Tsosie, Cyrus Begay, Clawson Van, and Kevin Schenally.

Honorary pallbearers were Reydale Comb, Rayuandal Comb, Brandon Lee, Marius Comb, Robert Claleson, and Reggie Curley.

Jeanette H. Peaches

WINSLOW, Ariz. — Funeral services for Jeanette Hillis Peaches, 93, of Winslow, Arizona, will be held Saturday, Jan. 21, at 11 a.m., at the Valley Baptist Church in Winslow, Arizona, with Pastor John Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Cornfields, Arizona.

Jeanette was born March 8, 1929, in Cornfields, into the Kiyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan). He was born for Tótsohnii (Big Water Clan). She passed away Jan. 1, 2023, in Winslow.

Jeanette attended Ganado Presbyterian School and Riverside High School and earned a nursing assistant certificate. She retired from Indian Health Service.

Jeanette enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, weaving, yard work, and traveling with Navajo Code Talkers.

Jeanette is survived by her sons, Glenn C. Peaches and Nathan W. Peaches; daughters, Doris Jeanette Peaches-Ross and Terri Lynn Peaches; brothers, Slim Claw and Carl Hillis; sisters, Rhoda Watchman, Mary Jeans, Joy Dempsey, Ione Anderson, Naomi Sylvester, and Charlotte Benado; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Jeanette is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred James Peaches; sons, Albert J. Peaches and Vernon K. Peaches; parents, Hannabah and Clauyde Hillis; granddaughter, Janet M. Ross; and grandson, Kyler Watchman.

Pallbearers will be Greer’s Mortuary staff.

Following services, a reception will occur at the First Baptist Church in Winslow.
