CHINLE – Funeral services for Nettie H. Hunter, 85, of Chinle, will be held Saturday, May 9, at 1 p.m., at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Chinle.

Nettie was born Dec. 20, 1940, into the Kinyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan), born for Naakaii Dine’é (Mexican Clan). Her nálí is Tł’ízíłání (Many Goats); cheii is Hashk’ąą Hadzohó (Yucca Fruit-Strung-Out-In-A-Line). She passed away May 3, 2026, in Winslow, Arizona.

Nettie graduated from Winslow High School. She was a homemaker who enjoyed making jewelry, meeting people, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Nettie is survived by her husband, Gilbert L. Hunter; children, Alberta Hunter Arthur and Carmen Hunter; siblings, Rose Cody Lee, Martha Cody Lee, Mabel Cody Hunter, Mae Cody King, Nora Cody, Jody Cody Russell and Joe Cody; and four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Nettie is preceded in death by her Albert and Maggie Cody, June Cody, Milton Cody and Lyonel Lewis.

A reception will take place at Apace County in Chinle, following services.

Vera E. Rodriguez

TSE BONITO, N.M. – Funeral services for Vera Ellen Rodriguez, 84, of Pigeon Springs, New Mexico, will be held Friday, May 8, at 10 a.m., at the Gateway Community Church in Tse Bonito, New Mexico, with Myron Lizer officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Defiance.

Vera was born Jan. 22, 1942, in Fort Defiance, into the Tó’áhání (Near the Water Clan), born for Tł’ááshchí’í (Red Bottom People Clan). She passed away May 1, 2026, in Pigeon Springs.

Vera graduated from Window Rock High School and attended the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe. She was employed with BIA Real Estate and enjoyed painting, drawing, and watching shows about Bigfoot.

Vera is survived by her sons, Anthony “Boo Boo” Milford Jr. and Gerald Shay Milford; brother, Wilford Lizer; sisters, Lorraine Williams and Shirley Fraizer; and four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Vera is preceded in death by her parents, Isabel Shirley and Clyde Lizer; sister, Carol Bartos; sons, Brandon Milford and Duwayne Milford; and husband, Danny Rodriguez.

Pallbearers will be Stephan Tilden, Kevin Lizer, Dwight Lizer, Korey Davison, Trenton Tsosie and Donald Tsosie Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wilford Lizer, Stanley Milford Jr., Doug Watchman and Manuel Jesus.

A reception will take place at the Gateway Community Church following services.
