FORT DEFIANCE

Longtime Lady Magic head coach Al Tsedah was singled out as one of the top coaches at the 13th annual Native American Basketball Invitational.

Tsedah has coached the Many Farms-based team for 23 years and for the past seven years his squad has competed in the NABI tournament.

He has built a solid foundation where his Lady Magic team captured back-to-back titles in the Gold Division with the first coming in 2012.

Last year he guided the girls’ team to the Silver Division title. In 2011, the Lady Magic finished as runner-ups in the Gold Division and in 2010 they advanced into the elite eight round.

Most of the players he’s coached have played college basketball and continued their education.

The NABI Foundation Board of Directors selected Tsedah as the recipient of the annual Phil Homeratha Leadership Award. Tsedah was introduced to the crowd in attendance at halftime of the Gold Division championship game and was presented his award.
