An overtime thriller at the Bee Hółdzil Events Center lifted the Monument Valley Mustangs to a 54-51 victory over the Window Rock Fighting Scouts on Saturday night, following two straight losses to Tuba City and Chinle.

The pairings for the 3A North and 1A North regional boys and girls basketball tournaments were released on Sunday following Saturday’s action.

Something had to give. In the contest between two of the state’s top 3A teams, the top-ranked Navajo Prep Lady Eagles (16-3) battled back from a five-point deficit to upend No. 3 Crownpoint 41-36 in a key District 1-3A matchup on Friday night.

Tohatchi made its runs. Navajo Prep never let them breathe. Each time the Cougars appeared ready to pull away, senior Dylan Lansing answered. He kept the Eagles within reach long enough to deliver the decisive blows late in a 59–55 District 1-3A win on Tuesday night.

The latest Arizona Interscholastic Association 1A power rankings were released on Wednesday afternoon, and it has the Rock Point boys basketball team at No. 10.
