Tohatchi girls sweep home meet

It was a complete sweep for the Tohatchi girls cross country team.
The Lady Cougars captured the individual and team titles at the Náshdóítsoh Invitational on Friday afternoon under cloudy conditions.
Led by freshman Chase Allison, Tohatchi packed five scoring members in the top 10 as the Cougars finished their home meet with a low score of 21 points.
“We’re just trying to emphasize pack timing,” Tohatchi coach Dion John said. “We’re just trying to run together as a team, practice together as a team and really just change the team culture.”
Allison completed the grueling race that featured some rolling hills and a sharp incline with a time of 21:37.09 on Hamburger Hill, just east of Tohatchi.
“I’m really surprised because this is my first varsity race and I wanted to give it my all,” said Allison, who attends McKinley Academy at the UNM-Gallup branch. “I did some summer workouts and I’m glad of the workouts because coach always tells us that consistency is key.”
