Ganado overwhelms Tohatchi in season opener

BURNSIDE, Ariz.
The Ganado Hornets opened their football season with a dominant 46-12 win over the Tohatchi Cougars on Friday night at Ganado High School.
Ganado took advantage of several Tohatchi turnovers and big plays to build a 40-6 halftime lead before cruising through the second half.
Despite the 34-point victory, Ganado head coach Kevin Watchman wasn’t satisfied with his team’s performance, particularly after the Hornets were plagued by penalties throughout the game.
“We played sloppily,” Watchman said. “We should have played Hornet football like we know we can. Overall, we won, but like I said, it’s a sloppy win. We gave up 12 points when we should’ve held them scoreless. But I think we’re gonna come back and watch film, and hopefully they understand what the mistakes were and capitalize on it.”
