Skyhawks looking to lean on rushing attack for 2026 season

NEWCOMB, N.M.

Fourth-year Newcomb football coach Vincent Lee is feeling optimistic about the 2026 gridiron season.

He has a positive outlook despite losing his entire backfield with Colt Yazzie, Landon Noble and Glacius Chee all graduating this past May.

“They were really hardworking kids,” Lee said of his departing seniors. “Colt and Landon carried the ball for us, and they carried the load. They were phenomenal players and it’s really hard to replace them.”

With that, Lee is working with a handful of sophomores, who played behind those graduating seniors.

“Our backfield is all coming up from JV and this year we’ll have a three-back attack,” he said. “We’re working to get our quarterback involved so that we can have a true four-back attack.”
