PV football to lean on experience for upcoming season

The Piedra Vista Panthers are preparing for the 2026 football season with a more experienced roster and a better understanding of what it will take to improve on last year’s 5-6 finish.
The Panthers return a bulk of their roster, including Amasi Griego, who helped carry the offense last season with more than 800 rushing yards. With another offseason behind them, head coach Jared Howell believes that experience could make a difference this fall.
“This offseason has been really good for us,” Howell said. “We’ve been really busy this past summer, so it’s been really good.”
Despite moving down from Class 6A to 5A this season, Howell said the Panthers aren’t planning any major changes to their offensive philosophy. Instead, they’ll continue adjusting their system around the players they have available.
