CHURCH ROCK, N.M.
Texas cowboy Lane Nobles set some impressive records on Saturday night during the 33rd Annual Wild Thing Championship Bullriding.
Nobles became the event’s only three-time winner after conquering Spur, a 4Bs Bucking Bulls product, for 91 points. At 35 years old, he also became the oldest Wild Thing champion.
“It’s been a long time coming,” Nobles said of winning his third title after claiming back-to-back crowns in 2014 and 2015.
“I’ve been telling Larry (Peterson) for years that I was gonna get No. 3 and we got it,” he said. “It’s a pretty good feeling and I got goosebumps as soon as the last guy was out.
“It’s a hard living, and I want everybody to do good, but I wanted to win it, too,” he continued. “To get the third one feels pretty good. I ran back out to the truck and my oldest boy, River, met me halfway and he said ‘Dad, you did it,’ so this is a pretty good feeling.”
