Of the eight races held on Saturday, two local athletes emerged as individual winners during the Albuquerque Academy Extravaganza cross-country meet.

The boys varsity race at the Gallup Curtis Williams Invitational on Saturday produced a tight finish with just five-tenths of a second separating Gallup runner Theodore Roundface and second place finisher Devin Lansing of Navajo Prep.

Last Saturday, nearly 22 teams from across the Four Corners region took part in the Shiprock Chieftain Cross-Country Invite.

After nearly two years, the Code Talker Memorial 5K race and fun run was held on Friday on the Code Talker Trail located at the Navajo Nation Museum.

Emotions were running high for the Chinle cross-country teams.
