The Tuba City volleyball team were within a few points of completing the sweep over the Chinle Lady Wildcats on Monday night.

The Window Rock Lady Scouts finally broke through. For the past two seasons, the Scouts came up short in its home volleyball tournament, losing in the finals to Chinle and Winslow in back-to-back years.

Ahead of this week’s 5th Annual Lady Scouts Volleyball Invitational, several local teams worked on their skills set and team strategies at last week’s volleyball scrimmage hosted by Window Rock High School.

The yearning to be involved with volleyball never wavered for Kristen Balcerek (nee Becenti). After graduating in 2013 from Tuba City High School, Balcerek played two seasons at Glendale Community College. And after earning her degree to become a physical therapist, she spent a few years coaching at the club level. She also coached one season at Tuba City Junior High last year.

From top to bottom, the 3A North should have another competitive volleyball league.
