Shonto Prep wrestling coach Kerwin Begay is keeping his fingers crossed.

In summing up the 6th Annual Veterans Memorial Invitational over the weekend, Page’s head wrestling coach Kyran Keisling said it best: “This tournament gave everyone an idea of how hot the fire really is.”

Since the Arizona Interscholastic Association recognized girls’ wrestling as an Arizona sport, girls have been showing up to try it out for themselves.

Of all the clubs taking part in the 3rd Annual Summer Border Wars Wrestling Folkstyle Challenge, the Sheep Camp Wrestling team had the most participants.

Tanner Tsinigine, a junior, brought home to Monument Valley High a state wrestling championship in the 152-pound division from the Utah 1A state wrestling tournament held Feb. 8-9 in Richfield.
