‘Little Hoss’ tops field in lamb division

Bloomfield’s Jordan Meador has been showing sheep for about seven years and believes raising market lambs is a great 4-H project.
“I started out a little bit late with sheep but, personally, I think it’s the best animal to raise,” he said. “I thought about showing pigs, but it wasn’t for me. Goats, are interesting too, but they’re kind of pain sometimes, so that’s why I enjoy (raising) sheep more.”
Meador, a member of the Shiprock 4-H Club, entered his lamb, Little Hoss, in the 78th Annual Navajo Nation Fair Junior Livestock Show on Thursday afternoon. Little Hoss was named Grand Champion at the Lorene C. Lee Pavilion.
“I had some high hopes with this lamb after our county fair,” Meador said of the recent San Juan County Fair in Farmington. “He didn’t do as well as I wanted him to do there. I figured that I’ll give it a try to come here and just seeing all the competition I knew it was going to be hard, but I had some high expectations for him.”
