Nackard Pepsi employees distributed about 8,000 cans of Pepsi during the Greater Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce Fourth of July Parade, according to Palmer Nackard, the president of The Nackard Companies.
The Flagstaff bottler and distributor entered three new floats in this year’s parade, including a tractor-trailer, Nackard said. Employees distributed drinks to spectators along the downtown route.
The family’s beverage business began in Flagstaff in the 1930s. The Pepsi bottling company dates to 1943.
“Since our founding, my grandparents have been really interested in supporting the communities,” Nackard said. “It’s actually in our mission statement to give back to the communities we do business in.”
Nackard said his involvement with the parade began when he was a child.
