Out of 55 participants, Darnell Moore of Tucson was selected for one of six open slots for the Arizona Unified Basketball team. The team will represent Arizona at the Special Olympics USA Games in Florida next year.

Over the weekend, the Chinle Wildcat Den hosted the Choice NTUA Wireless tournament and welcomed eight different girls’ teams. The Red Mesa team took third place, Rock Point came in second and the Chinle Lady Wildcats were the tournament champions.

The Hopi teams played their first conference game at home on Tuesday night in Hopi Junior Senior High’s gymnasium against St. Johns. The Hopi girls came short as St. Johns won 60-25. However, the Hopi boys pulled out a close win with 50-44.
