Just like last year’s state title run, the calling card for Tohatchi girls’ basketball continues to be defense.

At the start of the Utah Class 1A girls’ state basketball tournament, no one expected the Monument Valley Lady Cougars to be a factor in this year’s playoffs.

The Tohatchi girls’ basketball team reached the Final Four for the third straight year and used their experience to open up a huge lead over Dulce on Tuesday night at the Santa Ana Star Center.

The Alchesay Falcons fought and clawed their way back from a 21-point halftime deficit only to fall short to Rancho Solano Prep by a 68-62 count in the Arizona 2A boys state championship game last Saturday night.
