Four Diné doctoral students have been named 2026-27 Elouise Cobell Dissertation Writing-Year Fellows, a national award that provides $30,000 to Native scholars completing their dissertations.
The Diné doctoral students – Cecilia Marek, Deandra Jones, Janelle Cronin and Joel Begay – are part of the fellowship’s third cohort, announced May 7 by the Cobell Scholarship Program. The fellowship provides 12 months of support to as many as 10 scholars completing doctoral work.
