Police Blotter: BIA officer seizes 15.9 pounds of meth

WASHINGTON

A Bureau of Indian Affairs’ K-9 officer seized 15.9 pounds of methamphetamine and 1.25 pounds of heroin on Interstate 25 on the San Felipe Pueblo Reservation, according to a Sept. 12 U.S. Department of Interior news release.

The name of the suspect was not released, nor the name of the officer.

A field test of the substances returned positive for methamphetamine and heroin.

On Aug. 30 a criminal complaint was filed in the District of New Mexico and the suspect was held for further court proceedings.

DOI earlier this year established a drug-fighting Joint Task Force to end the opioid epidemic and make America safe. So far, the task force has made 155 arrests and confiscated approximately 1,155 pounds of illegal drugs.
