Early voting underway as Navajo Nation primary nears
WINDOW ROCK
With voter registration closed, the Navajo Nation’s 2026 primary election is set for Tuesday, July 21, and election officials are encouraging the Nation’s more than 145,000 registered voters to cast ballots early rather than wait for Election Day.
Tonia D. Burbank, a voter registration specialist with the Navajo Nation Election Administration, said early walk-in voting and absentee voting are underway in all five agencies. Voter registration closed June 11 and will reopen July 31 at 5 p.m., according to the Election Administration.
The last day to submit an absentee ballot application is July 6 at 5 p.m. The last day for early walk-in voting is July 17 at 5 p.m. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on July 21.
