Lizer launches Navajo presidential bid focused on jobs, energy
WINDOW ROCK
Former Navajo Nation Vice President Myron Lizer is running for the tribe’s highest office, saying the Navajo Nation needs “economic sovereignty” to create jobs, build infrastructure and replace declining federal support.
Lizer, who served as vice president under former President Jonathan Nez from 2019 to 2023, said in a Wednesday afternoon telephone interview that he wants another chance to deliver on jobs, water, energy and infrastructure for the Navajo people.
“I’m running because I just feel like the (Buu Nygren-Richelle Montoya) Administration missed the mark,” Lizer said.
Lizer said his campaign is centered on economic development and what he described as visionary leadership. He said the Navajo Nation must be present when the Trump Administration discusses energy, development and water policy.
