Election 2026

Emily Ellison stood Monday before Justin Jones’ family home fire in Rock Point Valley and accepted his selection of her as his running mate after her third campaign for Navajo Nation president ended in the July 21 primary.

Twelve years after a dispute over Diné language fluency ended his presidential campaign, Christopher Deschene returned to a Navajo Nation presidential race Monday when Speaker Crystalyne Curley named him as her running mate for the Nov. 3 general election.

A poll commissioned by a Democratic political action committee showed former President Jonathan Nez and Republican U.S. Rep. Eli Crane separated by one percentage point in an initial test of their Nov. 3 rematch for Arizona’s 2nd Congressional District.

Presidential candidate Justin Jones announced Emily Ellison as his running mate Monday at his family home in Rock Point Valley, selecting a former rival who made government reform central to her campaign.

Presidential candidate Crystalyne Curley on Monday named Christopher Clark Deschene as her running mate for the Nov. 3 Navajo Nation general election, adding to her ticket a former presidential candidate removed from the 2014 ballot in a Navajo language fluency dispute that delayed the election until April 2015.
