Johnny R. Yellowhair

TAYLOR, Ariz. – Funeral services for Johnny Robert Yellowhair, 63, of Taylor, Arizona, were held May 20 at the Silver Creek Mortuary Chapel. Interment followed in Snowflake, Arizona.

Johnny R. Yellowhair, Oct. 26, 1962 – May 15, 2026

Johnny was born Oct. 26, 1962, in Winslow, Arizona. He passed away May 15, 2026, in Show Low, Arizona.

Johnny graduated from Snowflake High School in 1980 and attended Navajo Community College. He was employed as a catalyst for Snowflake Paper Mill from 1984 to 2008.

Johnny enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, bike riding, drawing and being a grandfather.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Josephine Yellowhair; sons, Marcus (Nicole) Yellowhair and Dallin Yellowhair; daughters, LaDawn (Christopher) Ballard, LeKisha (Brandon) Nezzie and Shyann Yellowhair; mother, Louise Yellowhair; brother, Loren Yellowhair; and six grandchildren.

Johnny is preceded in death by his father, Robert Yellowhair; brothers, Carl Yellowhair and J.R. Yellowhair; sisters, Carol Yellowhair, Tina Taylor and Desbah Yellowhair.

Pallbearers were Loren Yellowhair, Lyle Lupe, Norman Jones, Steve Romero, Luis “Mongo” Lopez and Christopher Balcerzak.

Honorary pallbearers were Brandon Nezzie, Marcus Yellowhair, Dallin Yellowhair and Louise Yellowhair.

Silver Creek Mortuary oversaw arrangements.


 

Juanita F. Claw

GALLUP – Funeral services for Juanita Florence Claw, 87, of Lupton, Arizona, were held May 26 at the Cope Memorial Chapel in Gallup. Interment followed in Gallup.

Juanita was born June 25, 1938, in Fort Defiance, into the Honágháahnii (One-walks-around Clan), born for Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Wood People Clan). Her nálí is Honágháahnii; cheii is Dibéłzhíní (Black Sheep Clan). She passed away May 17, 2026, in Albuquerque.

Juanita graduated with a master’s degree in education from Northern Arizona University and worked many years with Wingate Elementary School. After retiring from Wingate Elementary, she worked for APS in Albuquerque, for another 10 years.

Juanita enjoyed sewing, writing, scrapbooking, crocheting, knitting and beading.

Juanita is survived by her husband, Ben C. Claw Sr.; sons, Perry M. Claw and Ben C. Claw Jr.; brothers, Wallace Haswood and Asa Haswood Jr.; sister, Gloria McIntire; and two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Juanita is preceded in death by Brian Claw, Lorelei Claw and Elizabeth Haswood.

Pallbearers were Ben C. Claw Jr., Perry S. Claw, Joreef Padilla, Edward Haswood, Nicholas Haswood and Daryn Claw.

Honorary pallbearers were Ben C. Claw Sr., Wallace Haswood and Asa Haswood Jr.

Cope Memorial oversaw arrangements.


 

Louise R. Edison

GALLUP – Funeral services for Louise R. Edison, 82, of Church Rock, New Mexico, will be held Saturday, May 30, at 9 a.m., at the First Baptist Church in Gallup, with Miranda Arviso officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Louise was born March 10, 1944, in Church Rock, into the Tábąąhá (Water’s Edge Clan), born for Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan). She passed away May 24, 2026, in Farmington.

Louise attended Gallup High School and retired as a nursing assistant. She enjoyed weaving rugs.

Louise is survived by her son, Herman Edison Jr.; daughters, Beverly Arviso, Barbara Natachu and Virginia Smith; sister, Nellie Begay; and 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Louise is preceded in death by her husband, Herman Edison Sr.; brothers, Edison Livingston and Peter Joe; and sisters, Tina Lee, Catherine James and Priscilla Plummer.

Pallbearers will be Jacey Edison, Herman Edison III, Zack Edison, Dewayne Jones, Henry Yawakia and Emanuel Edison.

Honorary pallbearer will be Brian Arviso.

A reception will take place at the First Baptist Church following services.

Fred Peters Sr.

GALLUP – Funeral services for Fred Peters Sr., 68, of Gallup, will be held Friday, May 29, at 1 p.m., at Rollie Mortuary in Gallup, with Jerome Sandoval officiating. Burial will follow in Naschitti, New Mexico.

Fred was born June 10, 1957, in Los Angeles into the Dziłtł’ahnii (Mountain Cove Clan), born for Tábąąhá (Water’s Edge Clan). Her nálí is Naasht’ézhí Dine’é (Zuni); cheii is Naakaii Dine’é (Mexican). She passed away May 22, 2026, in Flagstaff.

Fred attended school in Los Angeles and Tohatchi High School. He worked at Felix Indian Jewelry and Gallup Trading Co.

Fred enjoyed fishing, movies, hunting, and old style silversmithing.

Fred is survived by his wife, Teresa “Tweet” Peters; sons, Fred Peters Jr. and Fernando Peters; daughters, Felyne Peters, Bertina Largo, Florinda Peters, Tammy Peters, and Amanda Peters; brothers, Johnny Peters, Virgil Peters and Chris Peters; sisters, Bernadine Peters and Priscilla Peters; grandparents, Tom and Alice Robertson, Nora Watson and George Peters Sr.; and 24 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and George Peters Jr.; and Victoria Peters and Tanya Peters.

Pallbearers will be Fred Peters Jr., Chad Peters, Adam Jim, Senecca Charley, Bradford Bitsie, Beau Bitsie, Eric Peters and Ryan Francis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Fernando Peters, Johnny Peters, Virgil Peters, Chris Peters, Eugene Watson, Raymond Watson, Dave Allison, Jeff Brown, Jasper Hardy Jr., Ross Herbert Jr., Quincy Largo, Derrick Peters, Jackson Thomas, Jacob Claw, Trevor Claw and Jimmy Brown.

A reception will take place at the Naschitti Chapter House following services.

Gregory L. Martin

GALLUP – Funeral services for Gregory Lydell Martin, 41, of Crownpoint, were held April 24 at Rollie Mortuary in Gallup. Interment followed at the Flat Lake Family Cemetery.

Gregory was born March 1, 1985, in Crownpoint, into the Tó’aheedlíinii (Water Flow Together Clan), born for Kinłichíi’nii (Red House Clan). He passed away April 15, 2026, in Becenti/Crownpoint.

Gregory attended St. Bonaventure School in Thoreau and graduated from Crownpoint High School. He majored in culinary arts at Navajo Technical University and was employed as a caregiver.

Gregory is survived by his mother, Juliette Largo; children, Serenity Belle Martin and Daniel Phillip Honyumptewa; and sisters, Olivia Larkins and Cheryl Martin.

Gregory is preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Martin; brother, Rhett Charles Martin; and sister, Rochelle Leigh Gomez.

Pallbearers were Daniel P. Honyumptewa, Sammie Burnside, Aldred Reid, Carlson Largo, Logan R. King, and Kaine A. Reid.

Honorary pallbearers were Albert Morgan, Peter D’Alesandro, Harrison Largo, Andrew L. Martin and Thomas Martin.
