GALLUP — Funeral services for Jasmine Ann Yazzie, 18, were held Dec. 4 at Rollie Mortuary in Gallup. Interment followed at the Gallup City Cemetery.

Jasmine was born July 3, 2001, in Crownpoint, into the Bit’ahnii (Under His Cover Clan), born for Tsenabahilnii (Sleep Rock People Clan). Her chei is Táchii’nii (Red Running Into the Water People). She passed away Nov. 27, 2019, in Standing Rock, New Mexico.

Jasmine was a senior at Crownpoint High School and was mother to Lucas Cameron Othermedicine.

Her goal was to graduate and continue her education to provide for her son with a great future.

Jasmine loved family events and was very helpful. She was loyal and protective of her siblings and her family. She always had a smile on her face and acted goofy.

Jasmine is survived by her mother, Joely Yazzie; son, Lucas Cameron Othermedicine; brothers, Myron Peters of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Maurice Peters, Micheal Peters, Marvin Peters, Arliss Yazzie, Aiden Yazzie, Avis Yazzie and Jayden Yazzie, all of Standing Rock; and sister, Adrianna Yazzie of Standing Rock. Pallbearers were Myron Peters, Maurice Peters, Micheal Peters, Kenric Slim, Kyle Yellowhair and Joelsen Yazzie.

Rollie Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Beverly J. Martin

CROWNPOINT — Funeral mass for Beverly J. Martin, 62, of Crownpoint, will be held today, Dec. 5, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Crownpoint.

Beverly was born Feb. 18, 1957, in Winslow, Arizona. She passed away Nov. 7, 2019, in Albuquerque.

Beverly is survived by her daughter, Bernadette Alvarez; sisters, Gwen Duran, Bernadine Martin, Maxine Damon, Ramona Martin and Sharon Collins; and four grandchildren. Beverly is preceded in death by her mother, Jennie Martin; father, Leroy Martin; and brother, Lance Martin.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Paul’s Church Hall, following mass.

Wallace E. Halona

GALLUP — Funeral services for Wallace E. Halona, 91, of Tohatchi, New Mexico, will be held today, Dec. 5, at 1 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Gallup.

Wallace was born Oct. 1, 1928, in Tohatchi, into the Áshiihí (Salt People Clan), born for Tó’áhaní (Near the Water Clan). He passed away Nov. 29, 2019, in Gallup.
Wallace worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator and enjoyed hunting, carpentry, horsemanship and construction work.

Wallace is survived by his wife, Betty V. Halona; brothers, Wilson Halona, Alfred Halona and Jimmie Halona; and sisters, Daisy, Marie,

Winifred and Mollie. Wallace is preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Annie Halona. A reception will take place at the Tohatchi Chapter House, following services. Summit Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
