Ronald Armenta
BLANCO, N.M. – Graveside service for Ronald “Ronnie” Armenta, 59, of Blanco, New Mexico, will be held Friday, May 15, at 10 a.m.
Ronald Armenta, Nov. 14, 1966 – April 29, 2026
Ronald was born Nov. 14, 1966, into the Kinyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan), born for Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan). He passed away April 29, 2026, in Bloomfield, New Mexico.
Ronald was a mechanic who enjoyed reading, visiting with family and watching TV.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Vera Armenta; children, Vanessa Johnson, Ryan Armenta, Riley Armenta and Reynold Armenta; siblings, Grace Johnson, Priscilla Armenta, Victoria Armenta, Geneva John, Irene Armenta and Dennis Armenta; parents, Betty and George C. Armenta; and many grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Aldon Etcitty, Farrell Curley, Delano Bitsuie, Varyn Armenta, Juan “Xavier” George and Roger Jack.
Honorary pallbearers will be Vera Armenta, Vanessa Johnson, Verlynne Platero, Riley Armenta, Reynold Armenta, and siblings, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
A reception will take place at the Blanco Canyon Word of Faith following service.
Marie Begay
CHAMBERS, Ariz. – Funeral services for Marie Begay, 70, of Chambers, Arizona, will be held today, May 14, at 10 a.m., at the Indian Holiness Mission in Chambers, with John Strap officiating. Burial will follow in Houck, Arizona.
Marie was born Aug. 4, 1955, in Ganado, Arizona, into the Tótsohnii (Big Water Clan), born for Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan). Her nálí is Kiyaa’áanii (Towering House); cheii is Honágháahnii (One-walks-around). She passed away May 10, 2026, in Winslow, Arizona.
Marie was a cook and housekeeper at the Chieftain Motel and Restaurant in Chambers. She was also a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting and making jewelry.
Marie is survived by her husband, Emerson Begay; daughter, Patula Benally; brothers, Guy Benally Jr. and Gordy Benally; sisters, Louise Ashley and Genevieve Shirley; and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Marie is preceded in death by her son, Gregory Benally; parents, Mae Yazzie and Guy Benally; brothers, Robert Benally, Augustin Benally and Jimmy Benally; sister, Naphie Yazzie; and grandparents, Lena and Juan Yazzie.
Pallbearers will be Aarontino Yazzie, Trevor Six, Jessie Aundrea Yazzie, Lance Benally, Aurelius Benally and Chris Yazzie.
Honorary pallbearers will be Quincy Lane Chee and Joaquin Hank Whitethorne.
A reception will take place at the Indian Holiness Mission Fellowship Hall following services.

Harrison Mariano
GALLUP – Funeral services for Harrison Mariano, 74, of Mariano Lake, New Mexico, were held May 11 at Cope Memorial in Gallup, with Harry Mariano officiating. Interment followed in Rehoboth, New Mexico.
Harrison was born Aug. 17, 1951, in Crownpoint, into the Deeshchii’nii (Start of the Red Streak People Clan), born for Tábąąhá (Water’s Edge Clan). His nálí is Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water); cheii is ‘Áshįįhí (Salt People). He passed away May 5, 2026, in Albuquerque.
Harrison attended Thoreau High School and a trade school for welding in Denver. He enjoyed ranching, community development and participating in nation-wide horseshoe tournaments.
Harrison is survived by his brothers, Harry Mariano and Jymn Mariano; and sisters, Rita Todachine, Lorraine Mariano and Lorinda Mariano.
Harrison is preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Jean T. Mariano; and sisters, Laverne Mariano and Ada Naranjo.
Pallbearers were Damon Thompson, Rodney Walthall, Henry Charley III, Adrian Todachine, Daniel Todachine and Fredrick Snyder.
Honorary pallbearers were Jymn Mariano, Harry Mariano, Vernona Casamero, Etyhn Sherman and Sheldon Sherman.
Cope Memorial oversaw arrangements.
