This decision was not made lightly, but it has become necessary because of rising printing costs. The cost of producing the Navajo Times, including paper, ink and printing plates, has continued to increase. Beginning July 2, 2026, obituary announcements will be $25. Photos will be an additional $5 per photo. Military announcements will remain free of charge with a military insignia as we continue to honor our veterans. Brenda Patsy Lewis Nolan
(March 17, 1963 – Sept. 9, 2016)
ALBUQUERQUE – Brenda “Little Bird” Nolan passed peacefully Sept. 9, 2016, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born March 17, 1963, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to John and Pearl Lewis. She was born into the Tł’ógí (Zia Pueblo Clan), born for Ta’neeszahnii (Tangle Clan). Her nálí is Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water); cheii is Kinłichíi’nii (Red House People).
Brenda Patsy Lewis Nolan, March 17, 1963 – Sept. 9, 2016
Brenda was raised on the Torreon Reservation in northern New Mexico with her four siblings, Andrew, Ronald, John, and Deborah. She graduated from Cuba High School where she was an avid athlete and loved to play volleyball.
Brenda earned an associate degree in health information technology from Central New Mexico Community College. She loved working in the UNMH operating room as a surgical technician for many years.
Brenda loved cooking, listening to music, and dancing the night away with her best friends. Most of all, she loved being a mom. She not only raised her own children but also gave her life and love to her nieces and nephews.
Brenda is survived by her mother, Pearl; son, Warren; daughter, Tara and husband Sean; and niece, Yelena.
Brenda is preceded in death by her father, John Lewis Sr.; and brother, John Lewis Jr.
Funeral services were held Sept. 15, 2016, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Haines Ward. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Park. A Celebration of Life was held Sept. 14, 2016, at French-Lomas.

It’s been 10 years since you passed, and not a day goes by that we don’t think of you. Thank you for all the beautiful signs you have sent us. We know you are at peace. We love and miss you, Nihimá.
