Sand Devils deliver Ganado’s first loss of the season

BURNSIDE, Ariz.
After opening the season with four straight wins, the Ganado Hornets suffered their first loss Friday night as the Page Sand Devils earned a 30-12 victory at Ganado High School to open 3A North Region play. Page won its second straight game following last week’s 35-0 victory over Tuba City.
“To us, this was just another game, and right now we’re playing for the playoffs,” Page head coach Ty Bennett said. “We played two tough games these past couple of weeks and came in with some guys beat up, but they played their hearts out, and it’s just forward up from here.”
Page senior quarterback Kellen Cummings led the Sand Devils’ offense, completing 15-of-25 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 105 yards and two more scores for 311 yards of total offense. Senior wide receiver Lorin John caught five passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Page also forced three Ganado turnovers and scored on five of its eight possessions, finishing with four touchdowns and a field goal.
