Tuba City netters looking to be more consistent

The Tuba City volleyball team concluded its regular season tournament run during last week’s Snowflake “Be Like Nat” Invitational.

The Lady Warriors, which returned eight veterans from last year’s squad, played in three competitive tournaments this past month. Those tournaments revealed a lot about where Tuba City stands among some of the top programs in Arizona.

At the Snowflake tournament, the Warriors went 2-1 in pool play action, losing to the host team in a two-set loss. Tuba did beat St. Johns and Coconino.

With that, the Warriors made the gold bracket as they fell short to Payson and Blue Ridge during the double-elimination tournament.

“I feel like overall, we could have done better,” Tuba second-year coach Kristen Balcerek said. “The tournaments that we’ve played in have been kind of a struggle where we’ve been kind of inconsistent. You know, we’ve done well in some games, and then in some games we haven’t done so great.

“It’s just finding that consistency and once we find that rhythm, I feel like we’ll be OK,” she added.
