The upcoming Home of the Navajo PRCA Rodeo will have a star-studded field.
The list of entries includes the top hands in the professional ranks, and among them are handful of Diné contestants.
“The rodeo committee have really stepped it up with the added money,” Navajo bull rider JaCauy Hale said. “That’s why we’re seeing a bunch of contestants, the ones that make the NFR.”
The prorodeo has an added purse of $85,000 and it will start on Friday at 9 a.m. with the PRCA steer roping competition, which is a free event at the Dean C. Jackson Memorial Arena.
The first performance is slated for 7:30 p.m. on Friday night. A timed event slack is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Saturday morning with the second performance taking place at 7:30 p.m.
