A national study on American Indian education has been released and it’s causing a lot of debate within the BIA and tribes over its main theme – forcing Native American students to learn the white man’s way of education isn’t working.

Built more than a decade before by the BIA on land owned by the federal government north of the train tracks in Gallup, the center became the most visited spot in town by Navajos and other Indians.

Intermountain Boarding School is back in the news and once again it was not in a positive way.

A major battle of words has erupted between factions within the Ramah School District over, among other things, non-Navajo parents feeling they have been unjustly barred from any say in school policy.

The city of Gallup has submitted a request to the U.S. Office of Economic Opportunity to investigate attorneys for DNA-People’s Legal Services for going beyond their scope of authority in representing Navajo activists in their protests against the Ceremonial Association.
