Two incumbents ousted as Council races move to November

Incumbent Council Delegate Vince James received 71.07% of the vote Tuesday in the Navajo Nation primary election and is expected to face challenger Christopher D. White again in November.
James received 1,946 votes to White’s 792, or 28.93%, according to unofficial results from the Navajo Nation Election Administration. Both candidates will advance if no grievances are filed and they submit campaign expense reports by July 31.
James represents the Kin Dah Łichíí, Jeddito, Steamboat, Ganado, Greasewood Springs and Cornfields chapters and chairs the Health, Education and Human Services Committee of the 25th Navajo Nation Council.
Speaking Tuesday night at the Navajo Nation Museum in Window Rock, James credited voters in the six chapters.
“For the chapters that I represent, the six, we did really good in our district region,” James said. “We are very happy for all of those that came out to vote, no matter how the vote went. Now we move on to November’s election, general election, to take on the next four years.”
