Utility crews from Arizona, New Mexico and New York recently connected six Diné homes to the electric grid and prepared 17 more homes for service under the Light Up Navajo and Naasgo’ initiatives.
Naasgo’, or náásgóó, focuses on house wiring and meter loop installation needed before homes can be connected to electric service.
The work included line crews from Tucson Electric Power and Unisource, along with volunteer electricians from IBEW Local 611 in Albuquerque and IBEW Local 3 in New York City. The union crews were part of Electric Workers Without Borders North America and handled house wiring and meter loop installations required before homes can receive power.
