A routine security check at the Chinle High School Homecoming Dance on Saturday night escalated into a tense situation when a Navajo Nation Police Department officer received reports of a potential armed student on the premises.

Reports are emerging of a shooting that allegedly occurred during a homecoming dance at Chinle High School on Saturday night. Navajo Police is currently on the scene investigating the situation. 

A weary group of more than 30 former uranium miners, veterans, and downwinders confronted yet another challenge on their journey home after a successful campaign in Washington, D.C., advocating for the revival of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act.

More than 30 former uranium mine workers, veterans, and downwinders suffering from radiation-related illnesses are nearing the conclusion of an arduous 1,850-mile journey to Washington, D.C., in a bid to urge House Speaker Mike Johnson to prioritize the passage of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act. 

About 30 former uranium mine workers, veterans, and downwinders impacted by nuclear weapons tests, suffering from radiation-related illnesses, departed by bus from the Hispanic Cultural Center in hopes they convince House Speaker Mike Johnson to pass RECA.
